You have two assignments for next week. The first is to complete a
Very Rough Draft of your final paper. You will need to have tentative
versions of your introduction, three supporting sections, and
conclusion. At this point, you don't have to worry about properly citing
your sources or including in-depth research (though having this
material will place you ahead of our current pace); the purpose of this
assignment is to show that you have an idea of what you're trying to
prove, how you plan on supporting it, and why it's important. This draft
should be at least two full pages, and it will need to be uploaded to
the discussion board prior to class on Wednesday (4/2).
The
second assignment is to read the assignments from our Next Text book,
listed on the course schedule. You do not need to write a response to
these essays; just have them read and be prepared to discuss them in
class. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Reminders for Wednesday, March 26th
The assignment sheet for the Annotated Works Cited can be found in the
Content section of D2L, under the Reading Response heading. This is the
only homework you have for next week. Please have your thesis revised by
then and your narrowed topic locked down, so that you don't get behind.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Welcome Back!
I hope you all had a refreshing Spring Break and are ready to
continue with the research unit. Just a couple of reminders regarding
work that is due this week and meeting times/locations for Wednesday:
- We will be meeting in ML 81 (in the library) at 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 19th. When you enter the main floor of the library and walk past the security sensors, turn right and head toward the stairwell. You will take the stairs down to the basement and walk straight toward the classrooms. We will be here for the first hour of class, then we will go back to AH 203 after the instructional session has concluded.
- Please email me a tentative thesis by noon on Wednesday, March 19th. We will conduct a thesis statement workshop in AH 203, after our library session, to help us identify strong claims for our final papers.
- The breakdown of your topic is due by the beginning of class on Wednesday. Please see the examples in the Content section of D2L for templates on how to structure this assignment. You should have about four levels of questions in the document.

Reminders and Homework for After Break
Just a reminder: the final draft of your personal memoir essay is due
by 11:59pm on Friday (tomorrow). The deadline to send me questions
about your audio feedback (clarifications, issues with the file, etc.)
is tonight (Thursday), as I will be unable to respond to emails
tomorrow. For this reason, it is imperative that you listen to the
feedback as soon as possible.
Your assignments for our next scheduled class meeting (Wednesday, March 19th) are as follows: narrowing down the focus of your argumentative paper from a broad topic, and emailing me a tentative thesis. The breakdown of your topic will need to be submitted to a dropbox (which I'll open after the deadline for the narratives passes) before the start of class on 3/19. Your tentative thesis will need to be emailed to me by noon on the 19th, in order to participate in the thesis statement workshop.
I have posted notes and examples of the topic breakdown from yesterday's class to the content section of D2L. Please let me know if you have any questions.
